Christina Childress is an interdisciplinary artist based in Dallas, Texas. Her work is an exploration of the connections between—and the cyclical nature of—human and nonhuman life on Earth. Rooted in her personal experience and familial relationships, much of her work involves questioning the overlap of mythological and historical memory. In her installation projects she often utilizes organic material and found objects in conjunction with original and vernacular photographs, drawings, and ceramics.

MFA THESIS EXHIBITION

2024, University of Texas at Arlington

Do you remember how it feels to press your hands into earth?

My MFA exhibition centered around questions I’ve been asking myself since becoming a mother. How do we build our identities? Are we reliable narrators of our own history, or are the family stories, cultural influences, and memories we use to form a sense of self and claim the place we call home as precarious and ever-changing as the landscape?
